Have Mercy
MERCY Malaysia or the Malaysian Medical Relief Society, was founded in 1999 - the first mission being to war torn Kosova. Since then Mercy has been involved in several International missions including Afghanistan, Gujarat, Cambodia and Indonesia. They were in Iraq too where the members had a harrowing experience being attacked mistakenly and some were injured (suprisingly, this mission is not mentioned in their current website). I have included the Mercy website in the Societies and Associations page of the MMR.

More Private Hospitals
Added Lam Wah Ee Hospital and Loh Guan Lye Hospital websites to the Private Hospital listing. I notice that Private hospitals tend to be more serious about having a "web presence" and updating and maintaining their hospital websites. Sadly, alot of the Public Hospital sites are down and in need of updating and maintenance. Please let me know if there have been any other updates.

I keep the hospital contact database in my Palm organiser. Unfortunately, when I upgraded to Tungsten T3, the website URLs did not get transferred over properly to Outlook so I have to delay updating the Hospital Search Engine till I manually update the links in my PDA. Sigh....

Avian Flu
The H5N1 outbreak in the Far East is worrying. There have been numerous Press releases which I guess worries the public more.
Vad's corner has very good links to the latest H5N1 news. I hope human-human transmission doesn't occur for if it does, that's very bad news.

Updated the Private Hospital listing to include the new Selangor Medical Centre website. The database in the MMR Hospital Search engine is a little out of date I know - hope to update this in the next couple of weeks if I find the time!.

A new Start
I decided to revamp the MMR and use Blogger to publish the updates as they are made. This is easier than manually updating the front webpage. I have temporarily disabled the Locum page but hope to revive this soon. I added the Malaysian Medical News link in the right pane - this is a blog where I post the latest interesting Medical news items found in the press pertaining to Malaysia. Dobbs is a free bulletin board for Malaysian doctors - if you are one and haven't registered, please join over 1500 Malaysian doctors in the Dobbs community!
