Finally got round to collecting the son’s MyKad today and glad to say it turned out pretty good all things considering. While walking around afterwards, hubby came across a shop selling kitchen stuff and managed to get me a replacement timer. Yes the fourth timer which my sis bought me from UK died after a year and a half. I guess I knew it was headed this way as it had actually broken into two about 6 months ago, but I somehow managed to jam it back and get it working for a while. This time it was a digital one (like the first one hubby bought me from Australia) so hopefully it will last a little longer!

Upgrading to WordPress 3.0

Hubby upgraded my blog WordPress to 3.0 yesterday (using my blog as a guineapig before upgrading the main MMR one). In the process I seem to have lost the post categories for the last 2 years plus. Hence clicking on any category only lists posts up to early 2008. Am getting used to the new Dashboard, and perhaps I might get round to re-catergorising my newer posts one of these days!

After 3 years of procrastination, we finally took the son to change his MyKad in Shah Alam. When we first made his Identity Card after he turned 12, we managed (with the help of some ice cream and a good photographer) to get a nice picture of him so the Registration Officer came to the house to do it for him. This time round, we thought getting a decent photo might prove difficult, so decided to leave it up to them to take the photo.

We reached the Registration Office around 10.30 am, and were pleasantly surprised that there was hardly any people around, and we only had to wait for about 20 mins for our turn. Good thing I put one of his videos into my iPod to keep him occupied. The whole process went smoothly, and he was fairly cooperative except when it came to having his photo taken. Thankfully the photographer was very nice and patient with him, although he admitted that he rarely encountered such difficulties in taking a MyKad photo. Let’s just say the end result was a not your usual MyKad photo! We were done in about an hour, but it’s a good idea to go early – the State HQs open on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Ep VIII: Squirrel Wars Part Deux

We interrupt the blogging break to bring you the latest news about Squirrel Wars. Yes the squirrels are at it again, and this time they are trying to break into our house. I first spotted signs of this about a week ago when the grating covering our washing machine outlet was displaced night after night. Objects placed on top were just pushed aside (!) and tonight I heard scratching sounds from beneath the basket I placed on top of the grating! Will switch to one of our driveway tiles and hope that doesn’t get moved aside as well
