An invitation to co-blog on the MMR
posted in - General, - Palmdoc |For Doctors
I would like to invite Malaysian doctors to “blog” on the MMR. A Blog is a shortform for Weblog. Blogging is taking off in a big way, even amongst doctors. Take a look at http://www.medlogs.com which aggregates all the medical weblogs by doctors (mostly US) and some are really interesting.
The MMR now runs on a Wordpress system, so all you got to do is to login (userID/password in the login section in the MMR frontpage ), hit the Write tab and off you go.
Why blog?
I find it can be quite a cathartic experience. You get to expound your views to the public. This will be like a Malaysian Medical Hyde Park Speakers’ Corner.
There is no required frequency or dateline. You just blog at your leisure. Try to stick to medical issues as far as possible but I do request you blog sensibly and please don’t blog on too controversial issues especially the “sensitive ones” which might get me in trouble ![]()
Wordpress alllows us to categorise the weblogs by person posting so you get a Category [Yourname] which will filter out all blogs you make. You need not use your real name, and a pseudonym will do (e.g. as you know, I use Palmdoc)
Any other benefits?
Yes! I’ll provide a free forwarding email address in the format yourname@medicine.com.my if you wish: any email sent to this address will be automatically forwarded to an existing email (it may be a Hotmail account, Gmail account, tmnet account or streamyx account). To get your contacts send back email to you at this forwarding address, simply set the Reply-to: in your mail options to yourname@medicine.com.my.
If you want a free 2Gb Gmail (Google webmail http://gmail.com) account, a free invitation will be sent to all Co-bloggers at their request
Amendment June 2oo6
Instead of a forwarding account, it will be a full fledged POP/IMAP email account with Webmail facilities including Vacation messages, Filters (for spam) etc.
It will be available only to Doctor blog contributors who are also Registrants of the Dobbs Forum, and who have contributed at least 4-5 posts.
Limited places available only.
To apply please email me
For Medical Students
I have created a Malaysian Medical Students Website which I hope will be the “Mother of all Malaysian Medical Student Blogs” ![]()
Registration is open but please also register in MMR Forums and post a follow-up in this thread to state whether you wish to be a co-editor or a co-writer/blogger.

The Students’ site is unstable at the moment and may be down because the webhosting services are performing some PHP upgrades - things should be better after 21 August so if you have problems please try again after this date.
