Blog Rounds III
posted in - Blog rounds, - Palmdoc |Welcome to the third official MMR Blog Rounds where we take you through interesting posts we spotted in the Malaysian Medical Blogosphere. This weeks posts seem to take on a slightly political stance.
Doc Chan worries about the future. He quotes the Melbourne Age article While Malaysia fiddles, its opportunities are running dry (spreading around the Malaysian blogsphere by now, also spotted in a post by Shaolin Tiger in MonsterBlog )
One paragraph stood out for me:
It’s a tough world out there and there can be little sympathy for a country that prefers to argue about how to divide wealth rather than get on with the job of creating it
So Malaysia Boleh or Malaysia Bodoh?
Well, Doc Chan, docs are not quietly emigrating, many like yyyap are still trying to Find A Nest. Malaysia is still our home, our country and it may be more patriotic to stay back and vote for your rights and the future of the country. The quality of some of our new breed of politicians and politicians-wannabes are worrying. There’s too much Chicken Tox spreading around.
I also learnt new words from our political medical bloggers and recently I learnt what “Berdikari” means from Dr Liew: “berdiri di atas mangkuk orang lain”
George blogs about the recent Horror and Gruesome death of the Mongolian woman. No one deserves to die like this. I hope the real mastermind behind this heinous crime is punished many times over. Nevertheless this soap opera drama in real-life has all sorts of people including Doctors Gossiping and Speculating whodunit……
In between spinning hypotheses about Grusesome murders, Dr. George does a fine blog about PET-CT & CYCLOTRON. PET scans have finally come of age in Malaysia. The last paragraph about the National Cancer Institute is a little disturbing though….
Jimbo tells us some statistics , specifically the Risk of HIV transmission. Any idiots who think there’s no risk of HIV transmission during unprotected oral sex better rethink again. Then there’s also the risk of transmitting HSV, Gonorrhea, Syphilis etc etc. Jimbo, I think someone has to educate our Navy Boys. Swallowing semen seamen is not safe sex.
Nocturnale wanders about the corridors of the new UPM Medical Campus and Building. It’s not the building which makes a medical faculty good, it’s the people – the staff and the students. I wonder why it was “eerily desolate”? Maybe the unpleasant smell of fresh paint?
Doc (1st&last do no harm) invokes Shakespeare in describing patients unfortunate enought to have multiple medical problems. Like lightning striking twice or even three times in the same place. I like the Bard’s verse from Hamlet:
when sorrows come,
they come not single spies,
but in battalions.
Reminds me of an unfortunate lady I came across with both Ca. Breast and Acute Myeloid Leukaemia….sad..
If you fancy photography, check out Shah’s post on the Putrajaya Wetlands. Great pix Shah! Photography and food are a nice combo, and does help When The Results are Out, and indeed do provide a modicum of comfort. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who didn’t make it like SbanBoy. I know it’s a bad cliche but it really isn’t the end of the world. There are always other opportunities.
Well that’s the Blog Rounds for this week. Know of any Malaysian Doctor or Medical Student blogger not in our Doctor Blogroll or Student Blogroll? Do inform us!
