Another new toy II

ASUS Eee PC – a low cost (Rm1299) ultralite ultraportable computer. I decided to take the plunge as it is getting too cumbersome to lug a heavy notebook around the place. The eeePC is great for mobile doctors as you can very easily take this with you on ward rounds, talks/lectures or when you travel for conferences. It comes complete with an Internet suite as well as Open Office which is Microsoft Office compatible. The wireless networking is very easy to use. If Wifi is not available, one can tether your phone (in this case my Treo 680) to the eeePC either by cable (see instructions here) or via Bluetooth (optional BT dongle pictured here). The latter is considerably harder in Linux but I managed to get it done with the help of the eeePC forum.
