Top 20 Malaysian Doctor Blogs
posted in - Featured site, - Palmdoc |It’s been a while since we last did the Malaysian Doctor Blogs analysis. Anyway I was inspired by Sabahan’s Top Influential Malaysian Blog post and he prefers to do it by Technorati rankings. There are different blog ranking systems (including Google Page Rank and Alexa Ranking) and indeed there are pros and cons with each system. As the number of Malaysian Doctor Blogs in our Doctor Blogroll has grown tremendously, I have had to settle for one ranking system, so I chose the Technorati ranking for the latest MMR Top Doctor Blog listing.
First, a little explanation about how the Technorati system works and what Technorati Rank and Technorati Authority is all about.
From the Technorati Weblog:
Technorati Authority is the number of blogs linking to a website in the last six months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has.
It is important to note that we measure the number of blogs, rather than the number of links. So, if a blog links to your blog many times, it still only count as +1 toward your authority. Of course, new links mean the +1 will last another 180 days.
Technorati Rank is calculated based on how far you are from the top. The blog with the highest Technorati Authority is the #1 ranked blog. The smaller your Technorati Rank, the closer you are to the top.
Anyway, down to business. Here are the Top 20 Malaysian Doctor Blogs by Technorati Ranking:

Congratulations Dr. Bakri, Shah and Jimbo for being in the top 3! The list is however not guaranteed to be without errors so if you have a dispute with the results or have any blog which we missed do post a comment here.
There were some Blogs which somehow weren’t in the Technorati Directory. Perhaps they failed to get listed for being too new or did not Ping Technorati. Here’s How to get listed in Technorati
This isn’t the difficult part, getting your website listed in Technorati is simply a matter of pinging their update server whenever you update your blog.
You can have WordPress do this automatically for you every time you publish a blog entry by adding http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping to your Update Services list (found under the Options » Writing tab).
Pingomatic will automatically update Technorati, along with 21 other websites, whenever you post a new entry to the blog if you have pingomatic listed in the Update Services list.
If you’re worried that your site will not be properly picked up, then you can always manually ping Technorati.
Anyway a good way to get noticed is to get your Blog listed in the Malaysian Medical Doctor Blogroll right here in the Malaysian Medical Resources (Technorati Rank 57,613, TA 135). Not in the Blogroll? Send it in to us!

@Vagus, a doctor blog need not be about medicine. On the contrary, the interesting ones often aren’t. Numero uno in the list is indeed a political blog!

thanks palmdoc.
say, will we get to meet you in july for the (dreaded?) wedding
Hopefully Jimbo will come too.

I agree with Palmdoc
It’s always interesting to read about your fellow MDs’ exploits outside the hospital/clinic (although we love to read about Eve’s patients)…so don’t judge me if I wax lyrical about some stupid hamster or pen an ode to longkang laksa

May 14th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
@Jimbo don’t worry, the MMR is keeping you company as #4 in the list
As for the Student bloggers, too many lar. Perhaps we’ll call for nominations and then have a panel of judges?

Memo to self: Write less ‘salty’ stuff on my blog.
May 14th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
Actually it’s not “Salty” stuff that the Googlebot is indexing. it’s just the occurrence of the “H” word…
